How it works
What to expect, from the first time you get in touch through to finishing up.
From first contact to finishing up
Everyone's path looks a little different. Some people need a single home visit. Others work with us for months.
-
Getting in touch
You can contact us yourself, or a family member, GP, support coordinator or other professional can refer you. Email us or get in touch through the website, whatever's easiest.
-
A conversation first
We'll get in touch to talk about what's happening, what you'd like help with and how sessions will be funded. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so and suggest other options.
-
Paperwork, kept simple
Before the first appointment we send a short service agreement and consent form. They explain what we'll do, what it costs and how your information is handled. Questions are always welcome.
-
Assessment
At the first appointment we get to know you and how things are going day to day. We look at what's working, what isn't, and what you'd like to be different.
-
Setting goals
Together we agree on goals, written in your words, and a plan for working towards them.
-
Therapy and recommendations
Depending on your goals, this might be regular sessions, equipment trials, changes around the home, or advice for the people who support you.
-
Reports, when they're needed
If a funding body, doctor or other professional needs information from us, we write it up clearly and check it with you before it's sent.
-
Reviewing and finishing up
We check progress regularly. When you've reached your goals, we plan to finish together and leave you with what you need to keep going. You're welcome back any time.
Where we see people
We work wherever makes the most sense for what you're working on.
At home
Most of our work happens where you live, so advice suits your space and your routine.
In the community
At the shops, on public transport, at work or anywhere else you want to feel more confident.
By telehealth
Video sessions for check ins, reviews and conversations that don't need us in the room, wherever you live in Australia.
Waiting times
If there's a wait to start, we'll tell you when you first get in touch.
We'd rather be honest about timing than book you in and push appointments back. If your situation is urgent, let us know and we'll do our best to help or point you to someone who can.
Ready to get started?
Get in touch and we'll take it from there. You don't need a referral to see us privately.
